Best Pinterest Video Format, Resolution & Aspect Ratio Specs (2026 Guide)

Official Pinterest Video Specifications for 2026

Uploading video pins with the wrong aspect ratio or codec forces Pinterest's transcoding servers to crop or heavily re-compress your footage. Follow these technical specifications to ensure crisp 1080p playback across mobile and desktop feeds:

• Container Format: .MP4 or .MOV with H.264 or H.265 (HEVC) video encoding and AAC stereo audio.
• Recommended Aspect Ratios: Vertical 9:16 (1080 x 1920 px) for full-screen mobile Video & Story Pins, or standard vertical 2:3 (1000 x 1500 px) for classic feed pins.
• Maximum File Size & Duration: Up to 2 GB per video file, with duration between 4 seconds and 15 minutes (6 to 30 seconds is the sweet spot for organic completion rates).

4 Export Rules to Prevent Blurry Video Pins

• Export at 30fps or 60fps Constant Frame Rate: Variable frame rate (VFR) smartphone clips can cause audio desync. Lock your timeline to 30fps or 60fps at 10–15 Mbps target bitrate.
• Keep Text Hooks Inside the Central Safe Zone: Avoid placing captions in the bottom 15% or right-hand 12% of a 9:16 frame where Pinterest overlays the pin title and action buttons. Generate concise headlines with our Pinterest Title Generator.
• Inspect Top-Performing Competitor Video Specs: Use the Pinterest Video Downloader or Pinterest Story Downloader to download reference MP4 pins in your niche and check their exact resolution, pacing, and bitrate.
• Pair With Search-Indexed Metadata: Even the sharpest 1080p video needs keyword signals to rank. Run your topic through our Pinterest Description Generator before publishing.
