How to Save Pinterest Videos and Images from Public Pins: Step-by-Step Guide
Learn how to save videos and images from public Pinterest pins with PinFetcher's Media Saver: which links work, step-by-step instructions and fixes for common errors.

Pinterest is full of recipes, workout routines, decor ideas and tutorials, and sometimes you want a video or an image saved on your device to look at later. This guide shows how to do that with the Media Saver page on PinFetcher, which links work, and what to do if something goes wrong. PinFetcher is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Pinterest.
What Media Saver does
PinFetcher Media Saver is one page for two jobs: saving the video from a public Pinterest pin and saving the image from a public pin. You paste a link, choose Video or Image, and download. You do not need to create an account, and it works in your web browser, so there is nothing to install. It only works with public pins, because it does not log in to any Pinterest account.
Which Pinterest links work
These kinds of links can be used:
- Links to public pins, for example https://www.pinterest.com/pin/123456789012345678/
- Short links from the Pinterest app, for example https://pin.it/xxxxxxx
- Links from regional Pinterest domains
These cannot be saved: private pins, pins that need you to log in, pins that have been deleted, and links that are cut off or incomplete.
How to save a Pinterest video, step by step
- Open the pin in the Pinterest app or on the Pinterest website.
- Tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open Media Saver and keep Video selected.
- Paste the link into the box and press Download.
- When the available options appear, choose one and your browser will save the file.
If you only need videos, the Pinterest video downloader page does the same job.
How to save a Pinterest image
The steps are the same. Copy the link of the pin, open Media Saver, switch the choice from Video to Image, paste the link and press Download. If you only need images, you can also use the Pinterest image downloader page.
Video or image: which should you choose?
Choose Video when the pin plays as a video, and Image when it is a still picture. If you are not sure, open the pin first and check whether it plays. You can use the Media Saver page for both, so there is no need to look for a separate tool.
What happens when you paste a link
When you paste a link, the PinFetcher server checks that it is a Pinterest link, finds the public video or image file and sends it to your browser. The PinFetcher code does not save the files you download to disk.
Fixing common problems
- Check that the pin is public. Private pins and pins that need a login cannot be downloaded.
- Check that the link is complete. Copy it again from the Share menu.
- Check that the pin has not been removed by its creator.
- If a short pin.it link does not work, open it in your browser first and copy the full address from the address bar.
If the problem continues, try saving the pin with the video and image downloader again later, or read the FAQs.
Using saved files responsibly
Being able to download a file does not mean you have permission to reuse it. Videos and images belong to their creators. Use them only as personal reference, for example to keep a recipe, a workout or decor ideas available offline. If you want to publish, share or use them commercially, ask the creator for permission and give credit. If a creator says they do not allow their work to be saved or reused, respect that. Copyright requests can be sent as described on the Legal Disclaimer and DMCA pages.
